On my trip to the Isle of Arran I experienced a completely new quality of light. These experiences of encountering our same sun interact so differently always astounds me. I also experienced this hiking in Scotland with what I referred to as the “silver light”. I hope when people visit my home of Southern California, they have similar experiences with our unique color of golden sunset.

When I took these photographs the sun was high in the sky; it was afternoon in high summer, nowhere near sunset. And yet the sky was imbued with rosey and amber hues contrasting with dark grey storm clouds and bright blue skies all simultaneously… It was all so much.
